Making Sense of All the
Work At Home Opportunities
Out There

Once you begin to look for work at home opportunities, the process quickly becomes overwhelming. There are so many vendors touting "Earn money at home with our great opportunity!" The challenge is how to make sense of it all.

That's what we're here for!

We've seen a lot of work at home arrangements, and we boil them down into four categories:

1. Network;
2. Piecework;
3. Storefront; and
4. Ebay.

Let's briefly describe these opportunities, and then take you to more detailed information on each of them.

1. Network Opportunities
This category relates to "Network Marketing", or "Multi-Level Marketing", depending on the term you like to use. Though many people refer to Network Marketing, even more people still use the handy acronym of "MLM" for multi-level marketing, so that's what we'll use.

MLM opportunities revolve around maximizing many small networks, or circles of friends, in order to gain a customer base.
If I market a product to ten people, and each of them markets the same product to ten people, in short order 100 people are involved with a product. That's without any one person having to knock on 100 doors, and deal with 100 strangers. This is as simple as spreading the word, and it can be a great opportunity to work at home.

Of course, you want to spread the word about an excellent product, or else you would be doing your friends a disservice. And there are many other considerations before getting involved in an MLM opportunity. That's why it is important to deal with the right kinds of MLM projects. 2. Piecework Opportunities
As the name implies, this work involves doing something repeatedly, and getting paid by the number of units done. The pros and cons of this type of work are pretty clear: You're not being asked to sell, nor do you need any network of friends. You don't necessarily have to work on someone else's schedule, but can get your units done whenever it works for you. And you can work at home.

On the other hand, there are drawbacks: There is no flexibility: If you are paid by the unit, and don't get many units done today, you don't get much cash today. In fact, the piecework concept holds true even for the well-paid heart surgeon: She doesn't do an operation, and she doesn't get paid. That is unlike a network arrangement, where once you set it up, it gathers some momentum and makes you money without tending it every minute.

What about getting faster? Sure, the more you do, the better you get at it, and the more you'll earn. But of course, there is an upper limit to productivity. Eventually, it becomes a matter of trading your time for dollars. Hey, if you have the time, and don't have the dollars, this kind of work at home opportunity is a straightforward way to get more of those dollars.

But beware! These opportunities are breeding grounds for con artists! Click here for more information on these stay home business opportunities.

3. Storefront Opportunities
This is where you set up your own website, to sell just about anything under the sun.

You could sell tangible objects like art or jewelry. But there are dozens of other possibilities: You could sell information products, like a booklet on how to keep cats calm when taking them to the vet; or a guide to the best bed-and-breakfast inns in your state. Or you could sell your services directly, like the doll hospitals out there, or people who will write articles and do research on just about any topic (for a fee).

When you set up a storefront, you are not necessarily relying on your network of friends; you follow certain proven principles to design a website and develop the content, and you attract new customers out of the blue.

We know what you're thinking right now: "I don't know the first thing about putting a website together, much less how to attract perfect strangers to my site!" Well, did you get your electrical engineering degree before buying your cell phone? Or did you just rely on other people to put the phone together properly and make the thing push-button simple?

Websites are very much like cell phones: The technology behind them is extremely complex, but they've recently evolved so that lots of average people can easily learn to operate one. The good news is we know of some really useful tools in this area. Should you decide to explore websites more, we'll lead you to the best tools. 4. Ebay
You know how Ebay started? A guy wanted to be able to help his girlfriend buy and sell "Pez" dispensers. (In case you don't know, Pez are little candy tablets with funny plastic dispensers.) And he soon realized that the Internet allowed him to share his (or his girlfriend's) passion for Pez dispensers with anybody in the world.

The guy is now a billionaire, and Ebay is an online phenomenon. There are many thousands of people who are nicely supplementing their incomes by buying and selling just about everything under the sun, usually while they work at home. You can find $50 million Gulfstream jets, all the way down to freshly baked chocolate-chip cookies for sale on Ebay. This marketplace is not even limited to tangible objects, but also extends to buying and selling services like writing, computer programming, consulting, and just about any other legal service you can think of.

In one sense, Ebay is piecework in that the amount you make is governed by the number of transactions you are involved in. But sometimes your knowledge of products can allow you to make excellent profits off just a few items. The possibilities with Ebay are so broad that it deserves a category of its own. And before you dismiss it as too complicated for you to figure out, we've assembled some good resources to make it quite easy to try out Ebay as a home income opportunity.
