What If Everyone Did What You Do Every Month?
by Robert Blackman
My
favorite quote that I've ever said in a meeting or on a conference
call is:
"What if everybody in your downline duplicated your efforts
EXACTLY every month? Would you be happy, or would you be depressed?"
Think
about what you've done this last year in MLM.
How
about the last 6 months?
How about the last 3 months?
How about last month?
How about last week?
How about today?
You
see, one of the keys to my success is taking action.
I'm
a "doer".
I don't
sit around and wait for spillover or for help.
I have
a business plan or "system" that I'm comfortable with
and I work the heck out of that system EVERY SINGLE DAY!
It's
not a perfect system--as none exists.
But,
it is a SYSTEM that not only I, an Okie, can put into action, but
it is one that is easily duplicated by anyone--regardlesss of their
experience in this industry.
I've
always preached that 80% of your income each month will come from
2-3 legs, or leaders in your downline.
Charles
Possick, of the Cell Tech fame, put over 200 people frontline and
had 20 people duplicate his efforts.
His
net result?
About
2 Million dollars in sales on his first 6 levels every month.
Not
bad, huh?
Charles
had a system of direct mail.
He
and his wife and their staff mailed cassette tapes for their downline.
They
stayed up into the "wee" hours of the night printing out
custom labels on the tapes and stuffing them into those little cassette
envelopes.
The
business got so big that Charles eventually bought the cassette
company he was dealing with!
Now,
I'm not saying that you have to go into the fulfillment business
like Charles and I have, but it does mean that you either have to
run a system or be a part of a system.
Duplicaton.
What
is your definition of Duplication?
Are
you duplicating your uplines efforts?
Is
that a good thing or a bad thing?
What's
working and what's not working are two very important questions
for you to answer before you get all geared up in your MLM system.
I have
a simple system.
One
that all of my downline can do in their sleep.
I "break
it down" so that anyone in the masses can "see themselves
in the pay plan".
Joe
Schroeder talks about people seeing themselves performing in the
pay plan all the time.
And,
"if they can't see themselves in the pay plan," Joe touts,
"then they won't stay!"
Joe
is right.
That's
why I like the compressed or 15/40 or
15/45 pay plans.
A group
of 20 can bring you $700 to $1400 a month.
Can
you use an additional $700 to $1400 a month?
Can
those you're prospecting use it as well?
Don't
you think, that since the average American makes $25,000 a year,
or a gross earnings of $2,083 a month, that they're more likely
to believe that they can initially make $700 to $1400 a month?
Depending
upon their tax bracket they'll bring home around $1500 a month,
AFTER TAXES!
So,
when you talk about $700 to $1400 a month the guy or gal you're
talking to can RELATE!!!
And,
with relatively few, 20 to be specific, the program becomes BELIEVABLE!
And,
when the prospect CAN see themselves making half of what they bring
home every month--it's doable in their mind.
Then,
once they believe that, they'll start thinking and dreaming of replacing
their take home pay.
Then,
once that DOES happen, they'll open their minds to the possiblities
of even doubling or tripling their previous take home pay from their
past job.
I did.
I used
to make $10 running a printing press.
I used
to sit their on a stool watching sheets of paper go by me at 8,000
revolutions per hour and read all of those outragous claims of making
$100,000 a year.
I used
to think, "I could never do that--I make $400 a week!"
See
the distinction?
So,
how did I get from there to here?
Simple.
I had
to build my belief system.
I also
had to get "unsold" on the traditional way of making money--trading
dollars for hours.
Trading
dollars for hours.
That's
way the majority of Americans today make a living.
They
punch a clock and they get their paycheck.
No
punching--no paycheck.
It's
a fear motivated program--and it works for the most part.
But
the sad thing is that most Americans have "SOLD OUT" to
this method of making money.
They
don't believe that they can do anything else and they have "SETTLED"
for this particular lifestyle.
Hey,
if they're happy with what they do for a living and they are happy
living within those kind of financial restraints, more power to
them.
They
may not be a leader for your team--but an excellent candidate for
a product user.
What
you are looking for is a person who is reading Success type magazines
on their lunch break.
Guys
and gals who are "trading hours for dollars" until a better
opportunity is coming along.
THESE
are the people you want!
THESE are the potential leaders you're looking for.
My
claim to fame was that I would be willing to run a printing press
all night long to get a job out on time or to make more money.
Printing
was my only financial vehicle at the time--and I exploited it all
I could.
Until
one day, my back went out and I was laid up in bed for a week.
I lost
4 customers because I couldn't physically do the work.
That's
when I realized, at age 28 that I couldn't keep this pace up and
that I needed a different financial vehicle.
I was
ready.
And
that's the kind of person you'll need to find if you want a leader.
Someone
who's got a "BURN" in the pit of their stomach.
I'm
wrapping today's training up with this one thought:
"Do
you really believe that you'll be rewarded in this industry if you
aren't willing to work hard--just as hard or maybe even harder than
you are required to at your job?"
Or,
are you just waiting around to get "lucky" by finding
that right leader or waiting for your upline to hook you up with
a winner?
Make
your future happen today.
Be
somebody your downline, upline and crossline wants to duplicate.
Hey,
if a poor, broke kid from Oklahoma can do it, don't you think you
can do it?
Be
that person you want to be today by taking ACTION!
Make
a decision today.
Burn a "mental bridge" with yourself.
Throw
away the doubt and indecision--RIGHT NOW!
You
know what I mean--all that negative self-talk you say to yourself
and the thoughts you let in your mind wondering what everyone in
your family and co-workers will think about you if you really get
on fire about your MLM program.
When
you stick your head above the crowd and try to do the things necessary
to get ahead and get you and your family out of your "rut"
you are going to be a TARGET!
Expect
it.
Don't avoid it.
Having
a few tomatoes thrown at you is part of the journey to freedom.
Nobody,
and I'll repeat, nobody has every gained their freedom without making
a few waves.
I did
it.
I made
so many waves I lost all my friends--at least I lost those people
who I thought were my friends.
Today,
I have a new set of freinds.
I have
people around me who love and admire me for who I am and my beliefs--regardless
of how I do it.
Many
of these new friends don't even belong to my downline.
In
fact, they still don't understand what I do--they just know I'm
at home having fun when they are at work!
Embrace
your fear today.
It won't go away--fear is lurking everywhere.
When
you embrace your fear with a plan of attack you later look back
and wonder why you were so afraid in the beginning.
Stop
overanalyizing everything.
There
is no PERFECT:
--MLM Program
--MLM Company owners
--Upline support system
--Product
--Service
--Pay Plan
--System
I make
money in MLM because I've learned to work hard in an IMPERFECT world.
Your
mind is great of romantisizing MLM.
Your reality is great at bringing out the "doom and gloom"
side of MLM.
Find
a middle point.
Let
the dreams in your mind drive you to taking action. Let the reality
of your day bring you closer to the idea that in an IMPERFECT world
you can have it all:
--TIME
--MONEY
--HAPPINESS
I know
from personal experience it is easier to stay where you are--in
a rut--where it is constant, and predictable.
I also
know from personal experience that people younger, older, smarter
and not so smarter used to drive by me in nicer cars and used to
fly to events all over the world--and it they did that when I was
running a printing press!
Their
secret?
They
got "sold" on a different financial vehicle called MLM.
And they worked their BUTTS off until they achieved their goals.
I know
for a fact that your journey to freedom will not be easy.
Mine
wasn't.
I applaud
you in advance for your courage to get ahead and pull yourself up
by your own "bootstraps" and keep on shootin' when you're
out of bullets!
Hey,
I'll be on the other side waiting for you--come on board we need
you here--not back there in mediocrity--settling for a life and
income that somebody else has divvied up for you.
Break
the mold.
Be bold.
Burn the midnight oil for your freedom.
Keep your job until you replace your income.
It will hurt.
Just like "2-A Day" practices in Football--it will hurt
like HELL!
But
those that "stay with it" are rewarded.
Money
is one thing--it's nice to have. But TIME & MONEY was my goal.
To
simply make bacon and eggs for my children at 9 am on a Monday morning--and
watching my 3 year old try to break an egg in a bowl--what an expereince!!!
Especially
when you have to go back to the grocery store at 9:30 am because
he used all dozen eggs up "trying to get it right--and he's
got eggs all over him!"
That's
my concept of freedom--having the flexibility of enjoying what God
gave me--my time, and more importantly my family.
My
family trusts me to do the right thing.
I'm the leader.
I'm the quarterback.
MLM
has given me and them the freedom to do such simple things as staying
home all week breaking eggs all over the floor and laughing our
heads off in the process.
I kind
of think that's the way things were meant to be.
What
do you think?
Sincerely,
Robert Blackman
