An MLM Prospecting System
That Really Works

Your goal for building an MLM prospecting system should follow along these lines: A phenomenally successful chiropractor was known for opening practices in new cities, and then selling them quickly for big profits. He averaged 72 new clients a month to each practice, an amount far above his competitors. At a conference, someone asked him "What is this amazing single technique you have for getting so many clients?"

He responded that he did not know of any one "single technique" to bring in 72 clients per month; but he knew 72 ways to bring in a single new client monthly...

...and he used every one of them!

Wow, that seems like an awful lot of work, doesn't it? But look at it this way: An MLM prospecting system like that would be so broad-based, that any one technique only has to be a mediocre performer. You're not betting everything on one approach, on one root for a tree. Instead, you gradually build a wide and deep system of roots that all serve to feed you, and all bring in MLM leads.

The bad news: Real tough to grow overnight! And at first, you see more work than you see rewards. The good news: Once those roots are established, you have a system that feeds your home income for many years, and has staying power through all conditions. Here are the main roots for your MLM prospecting system "money tree":

Your website
You need a website. If you're not sure why, then go to our MLM Secrets page by clicking here, and read more.

OK, now that you're convinced (we hope!) that a website can be a cheap, never-tiring, and potentially great salesperson for you, the question becomes "How do I get one?"

As we said on the MLM Secrets page, you shouldn't use the cookie-cutter sites that MLM companies provide you as part of their MLM prospecting system. They are largely useless. Instead, you should have your own customized site. Why? Because the search engines will then view you as unique and therefore they will rank you up in their listings, rather than just bury or ignore you. Your site doesn't have to be massive; it just has to be customized.

Fortunately, you have several options for getting your site up and running. We have a whole page devoted to these website options, which you can view by clicking here.

Direct mail
We all hate junk mail. But we all love to get mail with useful information, or that speaks to our interests. So it's not the mail that we love or hate--it's the messages.

Direct mail should be a major part of your MLM prospecting system--if you do it right. That means you don't use a scatter-shot approach of mailing the wrong message to just any list. You mail a tested, proven message to a narrowly defined list. Should you expect a flood of replies? No; you'll get a little stream of business that way. But remember, that's all we're looking any one piece of our MLM prospecting system to provide. For more information on how to set up your direct mail efforts as part of your mlm prospecting system, contact us here. We have some superb materials--the very best--to recommend to you.

Affinity groups
Want to give an octane boost to your MLM prospecting system? Use affinity groups! These are the organizations you identify with, and whose language you speak. As we talked about on our "MLM Secrets" page, this is an extremely powerful method of having people choose you over the faceless crowd. Think about tailoring your website, direct mail, and other messages to affinity groups you belong to. It really should be a central part of your mlm prospecting system.

Flyers
The cost can often be quite high to advertise in even local newspapers, never mind large metropolitan ones. But you should call up your local paper's advertising department and ask them about their "FSI" or "free-standing insert", rates. You may be amazed at what you hear. Instead of paying hundreds of dollars for a small ad of a few inches wide and tall, you often can get an entire 8.5" x 11" sheet inserted in the paper for a fraction of the cost. They'll often print your ad on the paper color of your choice for rock-bottom prices, too.

Bottom line: You'll get way more space to work with, and you will stand out more than the little ads, for not much money. Sending a flyer out every 30-60 days should be a low-cost and high visibility part of your MLM prospecting system.

Classified ads
Even though "display ads", which are several inches wide and tall, are more expensive in newspapers, the classified ads usually are much more reasonable. What you should have as part of your MLM prospecting system is a very small classified ad that simply drives people to your recorded messages (see below). The ad can read:

Secrets to making extra
money from home.
Call 555-555-5555 anytime
for recorded information.

Notice, you're not trying to sell the reader on your opportunity; you're only trying to sell him or her on calling your message line. And you further lower the risk for readers by saying it is "recorded information". That way, they know they won't be grabbed by some salesman on the phone. This piece of your mlm prospecting system works 24 hours a day. When you are notified that you have a message, it's because someone listened to your recorded information, and now wants more details.

Recorded messages
As we said above, you really should have a phone number people can call, 24 hours a day, to hear various recorded messages. This is not a theoretical advantage, but a proven method of gaining more business. Some people are computer-oriented, and like their information via web pages. Others like to read letters, and still others are hearing-oriented. Having recorded messages that address various questions is a very powerful element in an effective mlm prospecting system.

This type of system does not have to be expensive. Contact us here to find out more about how to set up your phone message system.

Business cards
Most people have boring cards that make at least three mistakes:

Mistake #1: They state boring titles on their cards, and don't explain how they help people. It can be a serious, benefit-driven statement like "I help people to work from home with true financial independence." Or, it can be funny. Here's the best one we've seen, from a shoe repair store. He could have said "Jimmy's Shoe Repair", just like all the other shoe repair guys in the universe. Instead, this is what Jimmy had:

Jimmy's Shoe Repair:
We'll Heel You;
We'll Dye For You;
We'll Even Save Your Sole.

Don't you suppose that Jimmy's card gets passed around between people like crazy?

Mistake #2: They only use one side of the card. That's a huge waste of advertising space! Use both sides. If you have interesting enough information on both sides, people will squint. By the way, we don't recommend the standard stuff of calendars or restaurant tip calculators on the back side. That precious space should be all about you, and the benefits you can bring to the holder of that card.

Mistake #3: They don't pass out the cards nearly often enough. It's a numbers game, so it's your job to increase those numbers: Put your card in the envelope when you pay a bill. Put your card in the tray after you pay your restaurant tab. Leave one at the post office table where people read their mail. Make a deal with yourself that you'll get rid of 2, or 5, or 10 cards a day, and then do it.

Warning!
You must be very careful about prospecting your friends and relatives! This is how people fail in this business: They get excited at their MLM opportunity; they naturally want to tell all their friends and relatives about their plans, and also what a good product it is. Then, either those people rain on your parade and suck your enthusiasm out of your plans ("Remember how Cousin Ritchie became a wino only after he got involved with that MLM thing 10 years ago?")....

Or something else happens: Your MLM prospecting system consists only of your friends and relatives. You try to sell them repeatedly, and they start avoiding you, or they take other measures to make you stop. You then lose interest and quit.

This is what you should do: Explain to friends and family that you will only mention this good opportunity once; if they are not interested, then you'll not bring it up again. They'll know how to reach you if they do decide to jump in later. It's fine to keep them on a mailing list for new products or announcements. But for both your benefit and theirs, don't overdo it with your inner circle.
