Envelope Stuffing
Home Business Opportunities

What could be better than envelope stuffing? You just sit in front of your favorite sitcom and fold, stuff, and lick envelopes. You send a few dozen out every day, and the money just pours in.

The ads are very convincing. Here's a direct quote from one: "Get paid up to $750 or more every week for filling envelopes and mailing letters from home!" Here's another envelope stuffing ad headline: "Earn $2.00 for Each Envelope You Process!"

Bottom line: These are rip-offs, pure and simple. Think about it: With all the automated machinery out there to print, fold, and stuff envelopes at the rate of thousands per hour, why would a business pay you $2.00 to do a single envelope?

Don't fall for these garbage promotions! The first envelope stuffing scheme we mentioned above wants you to buy their "Get Paid to Mail Letters Kit" for just $39.95. The second deal above wants $45.00 to show your "good faith and that you're serious about inserting envelopes for our company."

It should be obvious that they want your money up front...period. Oh, a few outfits shout "Send No Money", because they want you to call their toll-free number and get worked over by professional hard-selling hitmen who know every trick to cajole or shame you into trying them out.

There is only one kind of envelope stuffing business opportunity that makes sense: If you live near a business that does lots of specialty mailings that require hand addressing, or hand inserting of trinkets, then they do have to hire people. These aren't typically home businesses; instead, you arrange to work in their mail room for so many hours per week, along with a few dozen other people doing the same tasks. In this case, you can see the business; you can talk with the people already doing the work there; and that local business has a reputation to maintain. (You still should check them out through your local Chamber of Commerce or Better Business Bureau.)

Look in your local phone book under "lettershop" or "mailing services" and you may find such local businesses.

But as to the outfits that beckon you through ads, we urge you to follow our advice: No matter how good and "guaranteed" these outfits seem, you are wasting your money if you respond to these envelope stuffing schemes.
